Email link behind Cloudflare protection

Cloudflare can hide email addresses from spam bots by replacing them with a link to /cdn-cgi/l/email-protection. Only a browser with JavaScript turns it back into an email link.

Why it matters

Visitors without JavaScript, many crawlers and some AI tools see a broken link instead of your address. Your contact details are then missing from what they read.

How Snaglist checks it

Snaglist looks for links to /cdn-cgi/l/email-protection on every page and lists the pages with the number of protected links.

Common causes

  • Email Address Obfuscation switched on in Cloudflare

How to fix it

  1. Decide whether spam protection outweighs findability.
  2. Turn off Email Address Obfuscation in Cloudflare, or exclude the contact page.
  3. Or show the address as text and use a contact form.

Find this on your own site.
