Broken structured data

Structured data is code (JSON-LD) that tells search engines what is on a page, such as a product, an article or a company. On this page a block cannot be read because the code is broken.

Why it matters

A broken block is ignored completely. You lose rich results in Google, and AI tools miss the facts you meant to give them.

How Snaglist checks it

Snaglist reads every JSON-LD block on every page and lists the pages with blocks that cannot be parsed, with the number of broken blocks.

Common causes

  • A missing comma or quote in hand-written code
  • A plugin that outputs text with unescaped characters
  • Two plugins that write into the same block

How to fix it

  1. Test the page in the Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.
  2. Fix the error in the code, template or plugin that produces the block.
  3. Run a new crawl to confirm.
