Error

Mobile menu does not open

The menu button on a phone does nothing. Snaglist taps it the way an iPhone does and sees no menu links appear.

Why it matters

Most visitors arrive on a phone. Without a working menu they cannot get past the page they landed on, and leave.

How Snaglist checks it

Once per crawl Snaglist opens the homepage in a phone browser (iPhone 13, 390 by 664 pixels). It looks for the menu button in the header by its aria-label, aria-expanded and class names, taps it and waits two seconds for menu links to come into view.

Common causes

  • A JavaScript error that stops the menu script
  • A script that does not load on mobile
  • A cookie banner or chat button lying over the menu button
  • A button that only reacts to a mouse click

How to fix it

  1. Open the site on a phone and tap the menu button.
  2. Look in the browser console for errors.
  3. Check that nothing lies over the button.
  4. Check the page again after the next crawl.
