NoticeWith Search Console

Found mostly on your name

Most of your impressions in Google come from search terms with your own name.

Why it matters

People who already know you find you anyway. New customers search for what you sell. If you barely appear for that, your site works as a business card and not as a way to be found.

How Snaglist checks it

With Search Console connected, Snaglist adds up the impressions of the past three months per search term. If 60 percent or more contain your brand name, you see this notice. With fewer than ten search terms or a hundred impressions there is too little data and Snaglist says nothing.

Snaglist reports this as a notice. It costs 5 percent of the page in the health score. Good to know, and sometimes a deliberate choice.

Common causes

  • One page for everything instead of a page per service
  • Titles that only contain the company name
  • Few links to the pages about what you sell

How to fix it

  1. List the words customers use for what you sell.
  2. Make a page per service or occasion with those words in the title and H1.
  3. Set them as target pages and link to them.

How it shows in the report

In the report for your client this appears under the heading "You are mostly found by people who already know you". When everything is in order, the report says: "You are also found on what you sell".
