Search term without its own page

You get impressions on this search term, but no page has those words in its title or H1.

Why it matters

Google is already showing you for this term, with a page that is only half about it. A page that really is about it stands a much better chance.

How Snaglist checks it

With Search Console connected, Snaglist takes the search terms of the past three months without your brand name, from ten impressions, and looks for all their words in the titles and H1s of your pages. You see at most ten per crawl, the largest first.

Snaglist reports this as a notice. It costs 5 percent of the page in the health score. Good to know, and sometimes a deliberate choice.

Common causes

  • The page exists but its title is about something else
  • Customers use other words than you do
  • The topic only appears in passing in a text

How to fix it

  1. Decide whether the search term fits what you sell.
  2. If so, put the words in the title and H1 of the best page.
  3. Or make a separate page and link to it.

How it shows in the report

In the report for your client this appears under the heading "Search terms without a page". When everything is in order, the report says: "Your search terms have their own page".
